Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…

Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them.

So Raine comes up with a plan...

She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again.
But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

I'd been dying to read Immortals ever since I finished Runes, and I have to say, it definitely did not disappoint! After that huge twist at the end of Runes, I was left wondering how this one would turn out. There are so many surprises in this, even more than in Runes. Some are predictable, some definitely aren't. Bottom line? This was awesome.

Torin is back, but he has no idea who Raine is. And so, after failing to make him remember, Raine decides to make him fall in love with her all over again. Their relationship is slightly similar to what it was in Runes before they really got to know each other, but with a few little differences. Number one, Raine is in love with Torin. Number 2, Torin feels this pull towards Raine that he can't explain. Oh, and Eirik, Raine's best friend, has a huge role to play in this book. Really huge! I won't give anything away, though. But Eirik is not what he seems. And Cora, Raine's other best friend, has an almost equally big role. Tension rises in this sequel, and the Norns take things into their own hands.

I really liked Raine's attitude in this book. She's so determined to get Torin back, and she never gives up on him. Not once does she doubt that he'll come back to her. She's torn between Torin and Eirik again, but in a different way this time. Torn between doing whatever she can to make Torin remember, and protecting Eirik. Because he needs her. Raine also begins her training as an Immortal, and that was really cool. I loved learning about Norse mythology along with her! Especially about the gods. Raine is really relatable in this book, but I did get a little annoyed when she just kept crying all the time. I mean once or twice, okay. But I lost count! I get that she's going through a lot, but it's obvious how strong she is. She never seemed like the crying sort to me... But maybe all that pressure can do that to you. Oh, and Raine discovers a lot of stuff about herself, too - big stuff. Eye-opening stuff.

Ahh, Torin. The incredibly infuriating but sexy guy is back, with his trusted Harley and leather jacket. I always loved Raine and Torin's banter in Runes, so I was glad that it was back for a while in this one. Of course, I got pretty mad at him sometimes for being so dense, but that's the way he is. And you can't stay mad at him for long! Torin once again proves how much he cares for Raine, and how important she is to him. It's so sweet to see that. I rooted for the two of them the entire time, and it was totally worth it when they finally got together. But after a while, I thought they got a little too mushy for my liking. It was still sweet, but maybe a little too much.

I think I loved Eirik even more in Immortals. He's still funny and goofy, but we get to see a few new sides of him. He's going through a lot of changes. We learn a lot about who he really is and what he's meant to do, and it's so much. I can't begin to imagine how he deals with that. We see a caring side of him, and it's clear that he really cares about Cora, though he'll never admit it. We also see a dark side of him. That, I admit, is a little creepy, but hey, he couldn't control it.

Andris and Ingrid are there, too, along with a new Immortal, Lavania. I really liked Andris in this one! You won't realize this in Runes, but he's actually really charming and funny. We also discover a few little surprises about him. It's cool how loyal he is to Torin, and how he looks out for him. And vice-versa. I liked Lavania, though we don't get to find out that much about her. She's the one who trains Raine. She seems really mature, which makes sense given how old she is, and she's pretty powerful too. Having direct ties with the goddess Freya would explain that.

There's quite a bit of romance, but a lot of action too. I was so engrossed in this book! Never a dull moment. And Torin will have you swooning in no time. He's probably the main reason I love this series. And now I seriously cannot wait for the next book, Grimnirs!
