Jessie Darker goes to high school during the day, but at night she helps with the family investigation business. Cheating husbands and stolen inheritances? They’re your girls—but their specialty is a bit darker. Zombie in your garage? Pesky Poltergeist living in your pool? They’ll have the problem solved in a magical minute. For a nominal fee, of course...

When gorgeous new client, Lukas Scott, saunters into the office requesting their help to find a stolen box, it sounds like a simple case—until the truth comes out. The box is full of Sin.

Seven deadly ones, in fact.

They’ve got five days to recapture the Sins before they're recalled by the box, taking seven hijacked human bodies with them. Easy peasy—except for one thing...

There’s a spell that will allow the Sins to remain free, causing chaos forever. When the key ingredient threatens the life of someone she knows, Jessie must make the ultimate choice between love and family—or lose everything.

Darker Days has totally made me fall in love with Jus Accardo's writing! I loved this book so much - way more than I was expecting to. And now I just want to go and read the Denazen series because I have no doubt I will love that too. Darker Days completely blew me away with its kick-ass protagonist and riveting plot.

Jessie and her mom aren't your average humans. They run the Darker Agency, which investigates problems of normal as well as paranormal origins. Demons, zombies, the works. But when Lukas Scott (I love that name by the way, it's practically the same as that of my favourite character from One Tree Hill!) walks in asking for help, Jessie knows he's not ordinary client. And they find themselves in the middle of a dangerous situation of epic proportions.

Jessie Darker is hands down one of my favourite YA heroines. She's smart, tough, sassy, and totally badass. I wouldn't want to get on her bad side! She doesn't take anyone's crap, and is forthcoming with everyone. I really liked that. She is quite impulsive, but I guess that's a given with intriguing protagonists like her. Jessie's honourable too, and never goes back on her word. Which is why she does whatever she can to help Lukas, even if it means endangering herself. Of course, that may be due to the fact that she starts to fall for him - the one person she has absolutely no business falling for.

I found Lukas really amusing! He's been trapped in the box for over a century, which means he has no idea about the modern world. I was continuously laughing at his confusion over Jessie's slang, and laughed even more when he asked her why she just can't speak English. Initially, with the way Lukas is described, I thought he'd be a bad boy of some sort. But he's totally not. Lukas is as good as they come. He's pure at heart, and would never intentionally hurt anyone. He'd never subject anyone to his fate, and would willingly go back into the box to save the others. His genuine concern for Jessie is touching, and later on, his protectiveness too. The two of them are so different, yet so good together! He's kind of like the yin to her yang.

The secondary characters are awesome, too. I loved Kendra, Jessie's best friend, who's also a witch. It was cool to get to know the other Sins, and I found the whole premise of this novel really intriguing. Darker Days is definitely action-packed, with quite a lot of swoony romance moments, as well as several surprises thrown along the way. After this one, I have to say I'm dying to read the next! Darker Days is a must-read for all paranormal fans, and I'd seriously recommend it to everyone. You can't help but love these characters and this intense plot.
