If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it’s to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn’t hurt either.

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora’s life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter. In Alaska. Basically she’s a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job… by hand.

Now Aurora’s only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire. And if he’s a vampire, will she be forced to kill him?

Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter is an incredibly fun vampire read! I loved the premise - the fact that the government has hired Aurora as a vampire hunter. I really liked a lot of the characters in this book, as well. Aurora especially. And I loved all the action in this book, and the random bursts of humour were hilarious! Keep in mind, this book is New Adult, or perhaps upper YA, so it definitely shouldn't be read by tweens.

Aurora is pretty much your average unpopular high school girl - she sucks at sports, has only one close friend, and her classmates see her as a total dweeb. But all of that changes once she's in a car accident and wakes up to find herself on a government base.

I enjoyed reading from Aurora's perspective, because she's very realistic about everything. Also, her dry sense of humour was fun to see. I liked how straightforward she was - she never beat about the bush. I could really empathize with her in most parts, and I felt her anger, her happiness, and her determination, while reading this book. I found it easy to connect with her, and I think the reason is because her character is well-written and well-developed, too. Although there are a few aspects of her I didn't like. Her casual and nonchalant stance on sex and drinking was quite disturbing to see. But her positive features really shine through, and they overpowered the negatives.

Fane is a guy at Aurora's school, apparently one with 'The Worst Hair'. He's initially going out with Valerie Ward, the most gorgeous girl in the school. But as he and Aurora get closer, Fane breaks up with Valerie to be with Aurora. I liked Fane's character, he's really different from most guys I've read about. He's definitely not perfect, and that was nice too. I get kind of annoyed when every single guy in most YA books are drop-dead gorgeous. Fane's protectiveness over Aurora is really sweet, and I think they're really good together. But Fane's not exactly what Aurora expects, and she's not sure what to do about that.

There may be a possible love triangle in future books, involving Aurora, Fane, and Dante, Aurora's vampire-hunter mentor-slash-partner. Dante's pretty cool, but his lack of concern for anyone other than himself and his friend Janine. But he is quite useful in helping Aurora develop her skills and get over her car phobia, so I guess that's a plus. But I still don't think I'll be a fan of him anytime soon.

I loved the plotline of Aurora Sky, it was action-packed and very intriguing! I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel, Northern Bites. Especially after that ending! It's not exactly a cliffhanger, but it's enough to make you extremely eager for the sequel.
