Review: Recipe for Satisfaction by Gina Gordon

Being the financial caretaker for her deadbeat parents isn’t the life professional organizer Sterling Andrews dreamed of. Tired of being the dependable—and boring—daughter, Sterling decides to have a little fun. And what could be more fun than seducing rich bad boy chef, Jack Vaughn? Except, after one scintillating night together, Sterling’s not only lusting for Jack, she’s working for him. And remaining professional becomes harder every day.

Already a major success thanks to his exclusive restaurants, Jack Vaughn is looking for something more. Ultra responsible Sterling is unlike anyone Jack has met…but she’s his employee. Unwilling to give her up, Jack makes Sterling an offer she can’t refuse—for four sexy weekends, he’ll indulge her most wicked fantasies with no professional strings attached. But will mixing business with pleasure spell disaster? Or will they find the recipe for satisfaction?

Recipe of Satisfaction is a fun, quick read, with loads of humour and swoon-worthy scenes throughout the novel. This is the third Entangled Brazen book I've read, and I'm beginning to really love this imprint! I finished this book in one go, and I can't wait for the next one (which I believe will be about Cole and Penn).

Wanna know why I loved this book? Two words - Jack Vaughn. An incredibly sexy guy with tattoos and a tongue ring, and can cook, hell yes! He's an incredible chef, along with his two brothers, and they're filthy rich thanks to the string of restaurants they own. Jack is, of course, a humungous playboy. He reminds me of Chad Gamble from J. Lynn's Gamble Brothers series. Jack is totally irresistible, and Sterling really didn't stand a chance against him. But he isn't just hot. No, he's really compassionate too, despite the fact that he's had a really rough childhood. He really cares for kids, which is why he gives up a lot of his time to teach a group of kids and teens how to cook. He may be immovable on the outside, but we get to see a different side of him with Sterling. My favourite parts of the book were when he began to fall for her. I loved his romantic gestures, mostly because they were so unexpected! Jack and Sterling are really one of the best couples I've read about.

He didn’t have to pretend with Sterling. He never had to be “on.” He was just Jack. He was good—just as he was—because she wanted nothing. But for the very first time, he wanted to give a woman everything.

Sterling is the standard responsible and independent woman. But she longs to be different - to be crazy and wild. She sees her opportunity in Jack. What starts out as one night together, turns into four weekends, which then turns into something incredible that neither of them can deny. I really felt for Sterling in this book. She's in a pretty bad situation with her parents, who feed off of her as well as use up her money to gamble. I felt the emotions Sterling went through - her rage, helplessness, and guilt. She really does deserve someone like Jack to take her mind off of things. She's also really sweet, and she's the kind of person who shows it when they care for someone. Sterling's relationship with Jack is extremely steamy. Seriously. I almost found myself sweating at some parts! This is an adult book, if you can't already tell from the cover, and I do not recommend tweens or anyone below 15 years to read it!

This book is way more erotic than any other book I've read, and I kind of feel that maybe there was too much sex and too less of actual plot in it. Moreover, this book is quite short, so that doesn't leave much room for plot and character development. I did see some great character development in Jack and Sterling, though, so I think Gina Gordon did an awesome job with that. Jack and Sterling had a crazy rollercoaster kind of relationship, so I was thankful at the end when everything worked out fine! There were so many misunderstandings and fights between them, I'm surprised they made it out together. I guess it just shows the power of their love. There's a really romantic scene towards the end which involves a bullhorn, and I think that's my favourite part of the book. If you're considering reading Recipe for Satisfaction, that will be enough for you to love it! And Jack, of course.

Overall, I really liked Recipe for Satisfaction. It's a great start to a series, and it's also reminiscent of J. Lynn's Gamble Brothers series. So if you love that one, you'll love this, too! The characters are extremely likeable, and the romance is fiery. I'm now desperate to read the next book in the series!
